How to Use This Theme

- Creation. God has created earth, and us; further, God knows us. We are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” The master Artist sketches a picture perfect through all of Creation. (Psalm 139)
- Jesus Teaching. Jesus insistence on the use of parable as his exclusive public teaching style parallels teaching in Psalm 78. In both the Old and New Testaments we can see the power of the saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” (Psalm 78, Mark 4:33-34)
- Wholeness. Jesus tells us to be perfect, like our heavenly Father is perfect. While for many this teaching is a recipe for dysfunction, one way of understanding Jesus’ Greek word choice is “wholeness”– that is, Jesus wants us to be whole and complete children of God. (Matt 5:48)
- Witness. True beauty comes not through external adornments but through a shining inner spirit of humility and quietness. Such a picture makes a powerful witness. (1 Peter 3:1-7)
