How to Use This Theme

- Atonement. The blood of Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, negating the necessity of sacrificial cleansing, opening the Temple curtain and allowing us to approach God with the confidence of our faith. In Jesus, we are washed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:19-22)
- Purity. With such attention paid to anti-bacterial formulated products, we live in a germo-phobic world. But the only way to achieve true cleanliness is through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Gal 5:16-25)
- Responsibility. When Pilate washed his hands, he tried to avoid responsibility for deciding Jesus’ fate. He did not understand his sin, as there are sins of commission and also sins of omission. To avoid making a decision is to itself make a decision. Don’t try to wash your hands of tough decisions; take responsibility for them. (Matthew 27:24)
- Service. In a profound act of humility and service, Jesus washed his disciples’ feet. In so doing, he modeled for us a ministry of service. (John 13:1-17)
