Beyond the Tomb
Easter: Beyond the Tomb
Easter is less than 2 weeks away! If you're scrambling to get your worship planned we've got the perfect solution. Beyond the Tomb is our brand new full-featured resource for the Easter season.

The core video powerfully illustrates the Passion of Jesus from celebration to crucifixion to resurrection using the nuance of silhouette, set against the storms depicted in scripture. It ends with the promise of the empty tomb, and what lies beyond.

You may remember the short version of this video with title, which we gave away last year during the Easter season. Well, the full-featured version contains that video plus as many more videos, images, audio files, print files and other media as we could fit onto one CD-ROM, all related to the same visual theme, for $75. Get it in the store here.

Tell the Easter story in a powerful new way this year with Beyond the Tomb. Learn more here.

This issue's Monthly Media Freebie is actually the 80-second version with title, half size, from the Beyond the Tomb disc. Keep reading to learn how to access this video.

Design Matters 5: Treatment
This month’s Design Matters article explores the principle of treatment. If graphic design were cooking, then treatment would be the spices that make it fun to eat. It’s not very difficult to cook a basic pot of chili, but making it stand out above the rest takes what popular chef Emeril Lagasse calls “kicking it up a notch.” Bam! Bring your appetite and chew on the idea of taking your images to the next level through treatment.

To Those We Meet at Seminars
To all of the many brothers and sisters in ministry we met on the road in February-you inspire us. At each of our four stops, in Anaheim, Milwaukee, Scottsdale and Melbourne FL, we met volunteers, media staff, music leaders, worship directors and pastors who are fighting the good fight to communicate the Gospel in ways that connect with our digital culture. Cindy Mugford of Mountain Park Community Church in Arizona recently wrote us:

From: Cindy Mugford
To: Midnight Oil
Subject: To the Midnight Oil Guys

Hey guys, I went to your seminar in Scottsdale and other than my brain was full, I looked at the sermon Sunday differently thanks to you. The pastor's topic was Forgiveness and she mentioned "Keys to Forgiveness" and immediately I was seeing a metaphor with keys and the line,"Turn the Key." As she continued, she didn't stay with the key theme but I could see how you talked about helping your speaker use the language of the metaphor to say on topic, so if anyone came in at any time, they could catch on to the metaphor.

Well you guys did good. I learned a lot and my husband who is a pastor is swimming in ideas that I'm throwing at him. Thanks for opening my mind to new ways to make the service easy to follow and memorable to the members of the church.

To everyone who fights the good fight, carry on and God multiply your efforts.

If you live near one of our April or May locations, we'd like to be inspired by you, too. People have been driving from 5-6, 8 and even 13 hours away, and some flying in, to catch a Digital Storytellers seminar. And no matter what-convince your pastor to go. This day is not just for techies, but for anyone who plans worship that connects to our culture.

Here's our upcoming media and worship seminar schedule for the remainder of the spring. You can click on any date and follow the links to register online.

Apr 16 Cleveland, OH Digital Storytellers Seminar
Apr 18 Lewes, DE Digital Storytellers Seminar
Apr 19-20 Las Vegas, NV NAB Convention

Monthly Media Download
Last year at Easter, we gave away the 50-second version of Beyond the Tomb, half size. We were amazed to find out that in it we had our most popular monthly media freebie ever, as more than 5300 churches downloaded and used this piece as part of their worship service. Many of you wrote in to describe the powerful effect it had on your services.

Well, as all believers will testify, the crucifixion is not the end of the story. So we've created a new, longer version of the same video that tells what happens next. This 80-second video, which is part of the full featured resource above, goes beyond the tomb to Easter morning and onto the ascension. Preview and download the video here.

And to give you another option in your planning we've extended last month's freebie image, Broken, through March to allow you another opportunity to download this powerful crown of thorns for your Easter worship. This crown of thorns graphic is a fabulous way to set up a meditation of the Suffering Servant.

God bless your worship this Easter season!
