A Special Christmas Prayer
A Personal Thank You From The MO Guys

Right where you are, as you read this, in the middle of your own personal Christmas busy-ness, we (Jason, left, and Len, right) want to give you a big virtual hug. What a great year 2005 has been!

Through our travels, site, email and phone, our little two-man ministry has had the honor of connecting with many of you for the first time, and building ongoing relationships with many others. We’ve gotten to see vital ministries doing their best to communicate the gospel through media, story, and metaphor. Your emails of what you’re doing with our stuff inspires us.

As we all look forward to 2006 we pray God’s continued calling, and continued blessings, on you personally and professionally. We know that we are blessed to witness and participate in the work you do.

Our Annual Christmas Half-Off Sale

Continuing an after-season tradition we started last year, we want to make available all of our Christmas resources for 50% regular price. This both helps us reduce our inventory, and gives those with smaller budgets a chance to get our Christmas resources at half off. Plan ahead now and get any of the following resources for only $37.50:

Follow the Star Personal Connection Rediscover Christmas
Our lowest price of the year is available now through January 6.
Plan for Next Year with More Christmas Ideas

Rediscover ChristmasWe got a helpful email the other day from Tommy Hailey in the great state of Louisiana. He describes how they used Rediscover Christmas during their sermon (and in other parts of worship which were too detailed to reprint here):

“For the main sermon graphic, we began with a Santa ornament (using your Nativity background) and text that read "Presents?" As the sermon began, our lay minister (who was preaching that day) walked up on stage, without saying anything, and wrapped a present. After she was finished, she stopped and slowly looked at the wrapping and ribbons, then paused, sighed, and looked up at the congregation and asked, "What is Christmas all about?"

“We immediately cut to the clip from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", in which Cindy Lou Who asks the Grinch what Christmas is all about. He responds, "Presents, I suppose," and she replies, "I was afraid of that." When the main sermon graphic came back up and the sermon continued, Santa and "Presents?" faded out and your Nativity ornament faded in, followed by the text "Presence!"

Great movie clip and integration suggestion, Tommy! If you used Rediscover Christmas this year and want to share your creativity with others for next year, you can write us here. And now through Dec 6, you can pick it up at 50% off regular price.

Monthly Media Freebie

New Year’s Resolutions—many of us make them. The one that tops the list for most people is losing weight. If you ate anything like we did over the holiday, then maybe this month’s free graphic is your slice of pie—or not, as the case may be.

Use this timely worship graphics set to connect with your congregations about the spiritual implications of weighing in—of starting a regimen, of making yourself accountable, of taking care of your body. Use it however you wish after you download our scale image here

Those dreadful words may have appeared on your screen in the weeks leading up to Christmas as you visited our website. For over a week we worked and waited through sweat and tears (even a little blood when Jason got a paper cut) for our presence on the web to be resurrected. If you had trouble, we’re sorry!

Thankfully we’re back up now. We continue to tweak, build and rebuild our site to make it a more powerful resource for you. Occasionally, all that work backfires! But hopefully we won’t have this kind of disaster again.

A Special Christmas Prayer

We’d like to thank all of our 2005 hosts for their efforts to bring Digital Storytellers to local churches all over the country. One host in particular has been on our hearts and minds this holiday season.

Our last hosts of 2005 were Randy Anderson and his wife Karen of Jacksonville, Illinois. We got word that on December 8th Randy and his two children Noah and Rachel escaped a fire that destroyed 80% of their home. Karen was at work at the time, and returned to find that her family had been rushed to the hospital. Crews battled the fire for over 5 hours.

Rachel was treated and released within a day, but Randy and his son Noah spent over a week in ICU, both on ventilators. On December 16th Randy was released, as was Noah two days later.

If you’d like to join Midnight Oil in helping to make this Christmas special for the Andersons, you can send well wishes, gift certificates or anything else to:
