Len Wilson

In 2002 Len Wilson co-founded Midnight Oil along with Jason Moore. Here is his bio from his site, www.lenwilson.us:

I believes in the power of the story. Some call it the “message” or the “big idea.” It is the essence of effective communication and the substance of my life mission, which is to use oral, written and visual means of communication with equal effectiveness in sharing Jesus Christ and advancing God’s kingdom.

From January of 2011 until June of 2012, I was Senior Leadership Editor at Abingdon Press, the main imprint of the United Methodist Publishing House, where I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to select, develop and publish approximately 20 manuscripts a year to grow leaders and God’s kingdom. Through the ministry of publishing I works with talented and honorable pastors and leaders across the church spectrum, helping craft life stories for maximum impact.

My calling is to serve God through the local church. I have accepted an executive creative and communication position at Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, GA, and begin June 1, 2012. You can learn more about this big decision here.

At points throughout my journey, I have helped create and hone messages to grow God’s kingdom in awesome places with awesome people. Some of these opportunities have included:

  • Authoring several books, including The Wired Church: Making Media Ministry (Abingdon, 1999) and, with Jason Moore, Taking Flight with Creativity: Worship Design Teams That Work(Abingdon, 2009)
  • Teaching and leading over 200 conferences, seminars and workshops
  • Co-founding and operating Midnight Oil Productions with Jason Moore from 2002 until 2011
  • Serving as Media Minister at Ginghamsburg Church in Tipp City, Ohio from 1995-2000, where with a team of cohorts he pioneered the use of media as ministry in worship and church life
  • Serving as Creative Director at Trietsch Memorial UMC in Flower Mound, Texas from 2006-2011, where he led a worship design team

I also teach workshops and seminars and serve as an adjunct at the School of Theology at Northwest Nazarene University.

I am hard at work on my next book.

I hold a M.A. in Religious Communication, United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH 1995; a B.A. in Communication, McMurry University, Abilene, TX 1992 (summa cum laude); and did Master’s course study at the Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia PA 1992-1993. Here’s my Curriculum Vita.

Most importantly, I am proud husband to my loving wife Shar and Daddy to four beautiful kids: Kaylyn (10), Christian (8), Joslyn (6) and Austin (3).
